Moderate Risk of Severe Weather for Portions of the Plains

by WeatherOps, on Jun 5, 2014 11:27:34 AM

There is a moderate risk of severe weather for today for portions of the Plains and Mid Mississippi River Valley ahead of a shortwave trough. Strong shear across the region will allow for supercells capable of producing large hail and tornadoes, however, the more prominent threat will be damaging winds.

Further to the west, thunderstorms will be possible for the Central and High Plains as upslope flow intensifies this afternoon and evening. Strong shear and increasing instability will allow for supercells capable of large hail and damaging winds
