Scattered showers and severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday across portions of the Northern Plains and Midwest.

Another upper level trough will exit the Rockies and move eastward allowing for a broad area of showers and thunderstorms. There is a moderate risk for severe weather from the foothills of the Rockies eastward to Illinois. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes will be possible; a few tornadoes may become strong.

Excessive rain will be possible for portions of the Northern Rockies and Midwest. Rainfall amounts will range between half an inch to an inch.
