Helping Business Weather the Storm

Hazardous Weather Outlook for Saturday, May 24, 2014

by WeatherOps, on May 23, 2014 4:15:13 PM

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Saturday for portions of Southeast New Mexico and Western Texas. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible.

A slow moving area of low pressure will continue to linger in the Four Corners region. Ongoing cloud cover and convection should limit development, however batches of fresh thunderstorms with yet again the potential for large hail and damaging winds should be possible, with some strong supercells possible within clustering groups. Highest chances for severe weather will remain in West Texas.

Due to the slow moving nature of the low, widespread rainfall will continue through West Texas. Flooding could occur as accumulations through the region are to remain between 1-2 inches.

Stronger to isolated severe storms could develop through the Northern Plains as an upper level trough moves through the Northern Rockies. While moisture will remain somewhat limited, instability will be enough to produce stronger to isolated severe storms through the Dakotas and Eastern Montana. The main threats will likely remain isolated to strong damaging wind gusts and hail.
