There will be isolated pockets of severe thunderstorms today across portions of the Central and Eastern US.

The first area with thunderstorm potential will be across portions of the Mid Atlantic and Northeast ahead of a cold front. Isolated large hail and damaging will be possible. High instability across Missouri and into Tennessee will allow for strong thunderstorms capable of hail and damaging winds. Further to the west, thunderstorms will be possible across portions of the Rockies and Central Plains. Storms over the higher terrain will move eastward and consolidate into clusters with large hail and damaging winds possible. A few clusters of thunderstorms will be possible across portions of New Mexico and Texas. Damaging winds will be the main concern.
