Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday for the Mississippi Valley and Southern Plains. Light to moderate snow is possible across the Northern Great Lakes.

Mississippi Valley and Southern Plains: By Wednesday the front will begin to push further across the Mississippi Valley and stall across the Southern Plains. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated to develop across the region during the afternoon hours. Conditions along and prior to the frontal passage to warrant rotating updrafts, which could produce stronger thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts, hail and perhaps an isolated tornado or two. By evening, precipitation is anticipated to become elongated and linear in nature, limiting the severe threat to mainly hail and wind gusts in excess of 60 mph or higher.

Northern Great Lakes: A strengthening frontal boundary will advance through the region. Moderate to heavy snow is anticipated to develop along the US/Canadian border. Accumulations around 3 to 6 inches will be possible. Combined with elevated surface winds, expect lowered visibility along with slick and hazardous roadways.
