Hazardous Weather Outlook for Tuesday, February 3, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Feb 2, 2015 3:41:39 PM

Moderate snowfall is possible Tuesday across the higher terrain of the Northern Rockies.

Northern Rockies: Low pressure will very slowly move eastward across the Northern Rockies toward the Northern Plains late in the day allowing for continued light to moderate snow across the region. Accumulations are likely to average 4 to 8 inches in most locations on Tuesday with isolated locations in the highest elevations possibly nearing 10 inches. Isolated showers will remain possible across the valleys and lower elevations with no heavy rain or thunderstorms expected.

Elsewhere, low pressure will exit the Northeast very early Tuesday morning with only an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow possible across Southeastern Maine before dawn. Very cold air mass will settle across the Northeast in the wake of this system allowing for dangerous morning low temperatures and wind chills that could fall to as low as -30 degrees. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible across Southern Texas due to a stalled front along the Mexican border. A clipper system will dive southward across the Great Lakes region with light snow expected on the range of 2 to 4 inches in most locations. High pressure will dominate the rest of the country with quiet conditions expected.
