Hazardous Weather Outlook for Friday, September 19, 2014

General thunderstorms with isolated strong thunderstorms will be possible on Friday for portions of the Central Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley. Moderate to heavy rain, as well as flooding potential, will be possible for portions of the Southwest into West Texas. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the Southeast.

- Heavy rain will continue for much of northern Gulf of Mexico, and may continue impacting parts of coastal TX. Embedded thunderstorm activity expected, but no great risk of severe storms.
- Tropical moisture associated with remnants of TS Odile will continue to seep westward from southern Rockies into Southern Plains; TX Panhandle and W TX now feeling impacts.
- A front pushing southeastward across the northern Plains may help trigger some showers and general thunderstorms across the Dakotas in the morning and early afternoon, but strong to severe storms are possible from E NE into the upper Mississippi Valley later in the afternoon and into the evening. Main risks are wind gusts over 45 mph and hail to 1” in diameter
- Elsewhere, rain continues offshore Carolinas and into FL Peninsula; showers and general t-storms possible AZ and UT.
