Severe thunderstorms are likely today across the Upper Midwest while scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely across the Southeast.

Severe weather will be possible for portions of the Upper Midwest as an area of low pressure develops across the Northern Rockies. Daytime showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the Southeast and into Virginia. A weak cold front across this area will support isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Across the Northern Plains, an upper level disturbance will move across the Dakotas and Minnesota. Moderate instability and strong shear will support the development of severe thunderstorms with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.
