Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday for portions of the Ohio River Valley to Upstate New York; some thunderstorms may be severe. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible from the Lower Mississippi Valley to New England.

Zonal flow will prevail across the US today with weak high pressure located over the Southeast. A weak upper level disturbance is moving across the Ohio Valley. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible by early afternoon from the Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley to the east. An upper level disturbance over the Ohio Valley may support severe thunderstorms by late afternoon from Kentucky to Upstate New York. Damaging winds will be the main concern, but some stronger storms may have some small hail.

Tropical Storm Dolly has developed in the Gulf of Mexico with maximum sustained winds of 40 knots and gusts to 50 knots. Dolly is accelerating to the Northwest and should make landfall on the coast of Mexico within the next 18-24 hours.
