Hazardous Weather Outlook for Saturday, August 23, 2014

Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible for portions of the Northern Plains. Showers and thunderstorms, with periods of heavy rain, will be possible for portions of the Northern Rockies and into the Plains. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible for portions of the Mid Atlantic.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible across the Northern Rockies on Saturday as a low pressure system across the Northern Rockies shifts eastward through the Plains allowing for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The main threats with any severe thunderstorms on Saturday will likely be heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail. Additionally, heavy rain between 2 to 3 inches is possible across Eastern Montana and parts of the Dakotas on Saturday. Showers will begin to lessen across the Southwestern US with only isolated showers expected. Scattered showers and isolated general thunderstorms will also be possible across the Mid Atlantic but no severe weather or heavy rain is expected.
