Hazardous Weather Outlook for Thursday, July 3, 2014

Hurricane Arthur will continue to intensify and move northward, strengthening to category 2 status will be possible. Heavy rain and moderate to fresh winds will be likely.

An area of low pressure and cold front lifting across the Eastern Seaboard and parts of the Southern US will allow for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Across the Rockies, isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible ahead of a shortwave trough; no severe weather is expected.

Hurricane Arthur will begin to turn Northeast on Thursday and will pass off the Outer Banks of North Carolina as a category 1 or weak category 2 storm. Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible with damaging winds and heavy rain possible.
