NORMAN, OK, January 13, 2016 - Weather Decision Technologies, Inc., a global leader in weather analytics and decision support services, announces agreements with both Noble Drilling (NE) and Seadrill (SDRL) to provide marine weather decision support for all of their assets in the Western Hemisphere.  These new clients, in addition to existing offshore clients, position WDT as the leading weather provider for offshore assets in the Gulf of Mexico.

Both agreements have WDT providing their WeatherOps services, which include detailed site-specific weather forecasting, hazardous and severe weather alerting, and consulting with WDT’s expert marine meteorologist team to support operations and ensure safety.  These services are provided for stationary and moving vessels within the Western Hemisphere. WDT’s specialized weather forecasts are derived from a variety of global models and WDT’s proprietary higher resolution models which are run over areas in the world where WDT’s customers’ assets are located.   WDT’s WeatherOps forecasters utilize these models as input to the process whereby they create the forecasts using AWIPS II as their forecaster workstation, the same workstation utilized by the National Weather Service. Forecasts provide a brief synopsis of weather conditions as well as expected adverse weather events in a color-coded daily planner that provides a quick glance look for operational users of the service.

In addition to daily forecasting activities, WDT produces custom forecasts for developing and classified tropical cyclones and maintains a vigilant assessment of the Atlantic Basin for development of any and all tropical activity. WDT has developed a suite of decision support tools to aid decision-making involving offshore and coastal assets that are threatened by tropical weather. Objective assessments of risk and timing are provided and include early warning notifications, direct path timing, and probability of impact by the storm’s winds.
