Specialty radar app designed to streamline busy on-air weather talent during high profile events

NORMAN, OK - September 10, 2012 - Weather industry leader Weather Decision Technologies®, Inc. (WDT) has released RadarScope TV, a version of its popular RadarScope application, designed specifically for on-air television use.

RadarScope TV is a specialized display application for iPad that has been optimized for television use enabling meteorologists to view and simulcast to air, native Level 2 super-res NEXRAD radar data as well as severe weather warnings. In addition, this professional app features real-time drawing capabilities and intuitive gesturing along with social integration. The system works remotely, offering on-air talent the ability to be mobile within the studio while always having the display on-hand. RadarScope TV runs on iPad and utilizes AppleTV's AirPlay for remote features. The app is available in the iTunes Store.

"RadarScope TV is an innovative derivative of our very popular RadarScope app currently available on iOS, Mac and Android platforms," says Ian Stinson, Senior Vice President of Digital Media at WDT. "RadarScopeTV was a natural progression for WDT's mobile team, providing a game-changing solution for our friends in the media industry that allows them to use an iPad on the fly to show viewers how storms are impacting them."

On-air talent can tap the play button to animate radar echoes to indicate to viewers speed and direction of travel. Optimized for television are names of over 25,000 cities and towns on the map that amplify as you zoom and scroll. Tap and hold the color legend to see the data values.
