Severe thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday across portions of Texas and Louisiana. A strong area of low pressure moving across Texas will allow for enhanced winds and seas across portions of the Gulf of Mexico.
US Hazards
Thunderstorms should increase in coverage and intensity throughout the morning and afternoon as conditions become more favorable throughout the day. As thunderstorms develop throughout the day, the primary impacts will be a low to moderate tornado threat, wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and heavy to excessive rainfall.

An area of low pressure moving eastward across Texas will allow for a prolonged period of enhanced conditions across portions of the Gulf of Mexico. Southeasterly winds and seas will continue to increase through early Thursday ahead of the approaching low and associated cold front. That front will move slowly to the east through the day on Thursday. At the present time, the most significant hazard will be the strong to severe thunderstorms. Southeasterly winds of 25-35 knots with gusts in excess of 40 knots will be possible over the west-central Gulf. Swells of 6-10 feet will be possible near the shore and 12-16 feet in the deep waters. Severe thunderstorms will be likely Wednesday night into Thursday with a high potential for waterspouts.
