Heavy rain and flash flooding is possible on Wednesday from portions of East Texas into the Louisiana Delta. Thunderstorms will continue across portions of the Northern Gulf of Mexico through early Wednesday afternoon.

Region 1

Heavy rain and flash flooding is possible on Wednesday across Region 1. Ongoing showers and thunderstorms will continue for much of the day along a stalled frontal boundary along the coast. The threat for flash flooding will shift eastward from the Houston area during the early morning to Louisiana during the late morning and afternoon hours. Rainfall rates of over an inch per hour will be likely within the heavier storms. Rainfall accumulations of 1-2 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 3 inches possible.

 

In addition to the heavy rain, a line of strong to severe thunderstorms will track across this area through the morning. Wind gusts in excess of 60 knots, frequent lightning, waterspouts, and small hail will be possible.
