Region 1

Snow is transitioning to freezing rain across portions of Region 1.  Snow accumulations of 2-4 inches will be possible in addition to sleet and freezing rain accumulations of 0.1-0.2 inches of sleet and freezing rain from Maine southwestward into eastern portions of New York. Across portions of Western New York, 3-5 inches of snow will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 7 inches. Across portions of Southwestern New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania, 6-12 inches of snow will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 10-20 miles per hour with gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour, limiting visibilities to below a quarter mile at times. Travelers should exercise extra caution if in these areas.
