Potential for Thunderstorms Friday across the Ohio Valley and Northeast
The upper level trough that has been responsible for severe weather in the Plains the past few days will move into the Northeast today. As it does, the associated surface low will intensify over the Great Lakes and move northeastward. Moist air combined with daytime heating will allow for the development of thunderstorms; a few storms may become supercells. Damaging winds will be the primary hazard, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Storms should diminish after dark with the loss of daytime heating.
