Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on Friday from the Gulf Coast into Georgia. Excessive rainfall is possible for portions of the Tennessee Valley.
US Hazards
There will be a threat for excessive rainfall leading to localized flooding across Region 1 on Friday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms will move northeastward through the region throughout the day and into the evening. Long durations of moderate to heavy rainfall accumulations of 1-2 inches are likely with locally higher amounts in excess of 3 inches possible within heavier storms.

Thunderstorms with the potential for damaging winds are currently moving through the Florida Panhandle. Into the afternoon, there will be the potential for redevelopment. If thunderstorms develop, there will be the potential for hail and damaging winds.
SPC Convective Outlook
There will be a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms across much of the Western Plains on Sunday. A dryline will develop in the Southern Plains with thunderstorm development ahead of it by late afternoon. Additional activity is possible to the north across portions of the Northern and Central High Plains. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes will be possible with any storms that develop.
