Heavy rain is expected across Northern California on Friday as a frontal system moves onshore. Showers and thunderstorms will develop across portions of Texas and into the Southeast, bringing additional heavy rain to these areas.

A frontal system moving onshore in Northern California will bring moisture rich Pacific air inland and cause heavy rains. Amounts of 1-2 inches will be common on Friday across Region 1 with locally heavier amounts in excess of 3 inches possible, especially in the Foothills.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop today across Region 2 as the storm system that brought severe weather and heavy rains to Texas and the south begins to move northward. Although most rainfall amounts will be in the 1-2 inch range, some amounts in excess of 3 inches will be possible. Since the rain will be falling on ground that is already wet from previous rains, the flash flood risk will be high in these areas. Across portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, 2-4 inches of rain will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 5 inches possible,
