Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible Thursday across eastern North Carolina.

As a cold front pushes offshore, heavy to excessive rainfall will be possible across portions of eastern North Carolina. Throughout the day, a weak surface low is forecast to develop to the east of North Carolina, bringing an extended chance for rainfall throughout Thursday. As a result, rainfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 4 inches, especially within the Outer Banks.
