Excessive rainfall is possible on Tuesday for portions of the Mid Atlantic.

There is a chance for excessive rainfall across the Mid Atlantic on Wednesday as widespread showers and thunderstorms impact much of the Northeast. Showers should begin to spread across the region early Wednesday morning and persist through the day into the late evening hours. The rain will taper off from west to east as a front pushes through the region. A swath of 1-2 inches can be expected with locally higher amounts in heavier storms. Given the recent heavy snows in the area, some of which has melted, this heavy rainfall may lead to periods of flash flooding in some flood prone areas.
