Snow is likely on Wednesday across Maine. Lake effect snowfall is possible across the Eastern Great Lakes.

An area of low pressure is forecast to move to the northeast of Maine, bringing gusty northerly winds and below freezing temperatures to the region. With the below freezing temperatures to the region. With below freezing temperatures, moderate to heavy snowfall will be likely into Wednesday with total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches expected. Locally higher amounts in excess of 12 inches will be possible. With the gusty winds present, blowing and falling snow will present near blizzard conditions to some parts of the state.

With westerly flow across Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, lake effect snow is forecast along the eastern shores of the lakes. Total accumulations in excess of 6 inches and potentially up to 18 inches will be possible.
