Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible on Thursday across Northern California. A winter storm is possible across the Northern Sierra Nevada.

An additional 1-2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts across Northern California will result in a continued flooding threat.

A significant winter storm is forecast over the higher elevations of the Northern Sierra Nevada. Several inches of snow is forecast at and above 4000 feet with 1-2 feet possible above 7000 feet in elevation. Amounts near the crest may exceed 2 feet by Friday morning. Strong and damaging winds are also a significant threat. Sustained winds of 30-50 mph are forecast late Wednesday into early Thursday. Wind gusts in excess of 65 mph are possible, with gusts on higher ridges and along the crest potentially exceeding 100 mph.
