Moderate to heavy snow is possible on Thursday across Maine. Moderate to heavy snow is possible across the Northwest.

A winter storm will continue for portions of Maine where 4-8 inches of snow is anticipated with locally higher amounts in excess of 10 inches possible. The combination of moderate to heavy snow and winds in excess of 20 mph will result in low visibilities and near blizzard conditions at times. Activity will taper off from west to east and come completely to an end by midnight.

A frontal system will move onshore of the Pacific Northwest with periods of snow expected over the mountainous regions from Washington into California, including the Cascades and the Sierra Nevada. General snowfall amounts of 4-8 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of a foot. Snow levels could drop as low as 5000 feet.
