Heavy snowfall is possible on Tuesday across Eastern Nevada into the Northern Rockies.

A strong surface low will lift out of eastern Nevada and into the northern Rockies. Rich moisture will be transported northward into the region by the low. Meanwhile, cold air will move southward from Canada. Snow showers have already developed across eastern Nevada, with lighter flurries extending northeastward into portions of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Snowfall is expected to spread north and east, and increase in intensity later in the day. Widespread accumulations of 2-4 inches are expected in the lower elevations, with accumulations of 6-12 inches expected in the higher elevations. Locally higher amounts in excess of 16 inches will be possible in some locations in the mountains of Western Montana.
