Hazardous Weather Outlook for Thursday, August 6, 2015

Strong thunderstorms are possible on Thursday from the Ozarks into the Middle Mississippi Valley. Excessive rainfall is possible for portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley.

Upper Midwest: Severe weather is forecast across the Upper Midwest on Thursday as a wave of low pressure traverses the region. At the surface, a cold front is progged to sweep through Minnesota after dark with scattered showers and thunderstorms, some strong, lingering well into the overnight hours. Threat should be limited to mainly damaging winds.

Tennessee Valley/Southeast: Across the Southeast, a shortwave trough moving through the Tennessee Valley will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms with a few strong thunderstorms possible. Isolated hail and a damaging winds should be the primary concerns with the stronger storms, but impacts should be far and few between.

Tennessee Valley: Daytime heating and moisture across the Southeast region will favor a small risk for locally heavy rainfall. Primary impacts should be limited to local runoff and perhaps some minor flooding.
