Companies Combine Forces to Offer Top Ranked Premium Apps for Weather Enthusiasts and Professionals

NORMAN, OK - November 8, 2012 - Weather industry leader Weather Decision Technologies®, Inc announced today it has acquired the popular iOS application, Storm Spotter. Additionally, Storm Spotter’s founder joined WDT to support the company's mission to continue to provide and enhance its line of premium mobile weather applications

Storm Spotter originally launched in late 2009 and the current version, 3.1.3, is one of the top grossing weather apps in the App Store offering radar data retrieval and display at lightning fast speed. This application is a powerful addition to WDT's portfolio of mission-critical weather applications for weather enthusiasts, general consumers and enterprise.

"This acquisition is a prime example of the commitment WDT has in creating and maintaining premium applications while also placing incredible developers in a position to create unique apps for weather aficionados and professionals alike," said Mike Eilts, President and CEO of WDT, Inc. "Users of this consumer-oriented application will greatly benefit by future updates utilizing comprehensive WDT data."

T"I desired a mobile radar app on the iPhone that I could use for storm chasing and there was not a app that did everything I wanted, so I decided to try to build the app that I would want to use myself,” said Ross Kimes, former CEO of Storm Spotter, and newly appointed Mobile Developer at WDT. "I’m very excited about the custom data feeds WDT can provide that are above and beyond the standard National Weather Service’s publicly available data.”
