A cold front will reach the Atlantic Coast by Thursday with showers and thunderstorms expected to promote a risk for excessive rainfall through early Friday morning along the Carolina coast into Virginia. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches of rain can be expected with locally higher amounts. A risk for flooding will linger through early Friday before rainfall moves offshore.
