Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across the Northern Plains on Saturday.

Scattered strong-to-severe storms are expected to form Saturday afternoon into the evening in the Northern Plains. The combination of a surface trough and multiple upper-air impulses will provide ample lift in the Dakotas and Minnesota region, combining this with moderate-to-strong instability any storms that do become severe the primary hazards will be damaging wind gusts and large hail. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to form in the Gulf states, while a surface low traversing off the East Coast will bring heavy rainfall from North Carolina into Maryland.
