Hazardous Weather Outlook for Thursday, July 2, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Jul 1, 2015 10:02:45 AM

Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday from the Central Plains through the Appalachians. Heavy rainfall and flooding are expected for the Tennessee region.

Central US through Appalachians: A frontal boundary draped across the US will be the focus for further thunderstorm development on Thursday. To begin the day, a line of severe thunderstorms is forecast to be ongoing across Missouri during the morning that will move east-southeastward during the day. These storms are expected to continue through the day into Tennessee, with damaging wind gusts as the primary hazard. Meanwhile, plentiful moisture will surge through the Southern Plains, allowing for storm development along the Oklahoma/Kansas border. A strong squall line should form and move southward, with damaging wind gusts and large hail being the main threats for the region.

Tennessee Region: Another round of heavy rainfall will be possible on Thursday as storm activity continues along the stalled boundary. Areas of 2+ inches of new rainfall will be possible.
