Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon across the Plains.

Current NWS Advisories/Watches/Warnings in iMapPro

A strong upper level trough is expected to move across the Southern Plains on Friday as a surface low deepens across the region. Plentiful moisture and instability will allow for widespread development of strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon. These storms will continue to move eastward through Mississippi and into the Southeast on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop across Eastern Oklahoma and southward into Louisiana, which could inhibit development across the Southern Plains. Any storm that is able to develop will have the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. The most favorable area for tornadoes will be Central and Eastern Kansas into Northeastern Oklahoma as well as North Central Texas into the Arklatex region.
