Helping Business Weather the Storm

Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday, April 8, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Apr 7, 2015 3:30:15 PM

Severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday for the Southern and Central Plains as well as the Missouri Valley to the Midwest. Moderate snow is likely for the Northern Rockies.

Southern/Central Plains: While there is still a question of precisely where and when thunderstorm development will occur, any thunderstorms that are able to form on Wednesday in conjunction with a low level disturbance in relation to low pressure in the Central Plains will be in a fantastic environment for supercellular growth and severe development. Very large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes will be possible with any storms in this risk region.

Missouri Valley/Midwest: Storm activity moving into the overnight hours for this region will present a slightly lower, but still threatening severe risk. A surface low will be taking shape and then moving towards the Great Lakes, and thunderstorms in this environment will have the ingredients possible for some large hail and damaging wind gusts.

Northern Rockies: As low pressure begins to propagate eastward by Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms over Northern California will shift across the Northern Rockies with moderate to heavy snow expected. Isolated snowfall totals of 4 to 8 inches can be expected across the higher peaks of Wyoming with 2 to 4 inch accumulations more widespread.
