A cold front slowly advancing through the Plains today will allow for the development of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon across the Mississippi Valley and Central Plains. Hail, damaging winds and heavy rain will be the main concerns, but a few isolated rotating thunderstorms will also be possible.

Further north, a front will progress into the Northern Great Lakes. Light to moderate snow and light icing will be possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Snow accumulations should remain under 4 inches and ice accumulations will be less than .05 inches. Surface winds in excess of 10-20 miles per hour and falling snow will reduce visibility and may impact travel conditions.
