Moderate to heavy snow is likely on Thursday from Tennessee to lower New England. Mixed wintry precipitation is likely from Louisiana through the Virginias. Non severe thunderstorms are possible from Florida to South Carolina.

Winter weather will continue through most of the day as snow and mixed winter precipitation continues to move through the Eastern and Southern US. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected from Tennessee to New England. Accumulations of 4-8 inches of snow will be possible, with localized areas receiving up to 10 inches.

From Louisiana through the Virginias, rain will switch to freezing rain, sleet, and snow except for the furthest south areas of Louisiana and Mississippi where only sleet and freezing rain are anticipated. Ice accumulations between a glazing and a quarter of an inch will be possible. Sleet and snow accumulations will be in excess of 1-2 inches. Some lightning will also be possible.

From the Florida Panhandle to Coastal Carolina, thunderstorms are expected ahead of a cold front. Gusty winds, moderate to heavy rain, and lightning will be possible, but severe impacts are not anticipated.
