Hazardous Weather Outlook for Tuesday, February 16, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Feb 16, 2015 3:24:17 PM

Moderate to heavy snow and mixed wintry precipitation is expected Tuesday from the Central Atlantic through the Northeast.

Central Atlantic through Northeast:Mixed winter precipitation in association with a low pressure system and strong surge of cold arctic air will be moving off of the coastline Tuesday and moving Northeast. During the early through late morning hours, wintry precipitation will be ongoing and moving offshore of the Central Atlantic coastline. After this time, snowfall will move Northeast with the low pressure system. The low is currently not forecast to be as strong as the previous low that just moved through the region, however appreciable amounts of snowfall are anticipated while the low skims the coastline. Snowfall totals from the previous day through Tuesday morning are likely to be in excess of 5-10 inches for the Central Atlantic coast. The Northeastern coastline through New England could see in excess of 4-8 inches dependent on the position of the low.
