Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected across the Northeast on Monday; near blizzard conditions will be possible. Moderate snowfall will be likely for the higher elevations of the Pacific Northwest.

An area of low pressure will begin to lift northeastward through the Northeast allowing for moderate snowfall across the region. 9-12 inches will be possible across the region with up to 15 inches possible from Update New York through Massachusetts, Southern Vermont, Southern New Hampshire, and Southern Maine. From Northern New Jersey to Cape Cod, snowfall will average 1-2 inches with rain changing to sleet and freezing rain. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice will be possible before changing to snow during the late afternoon. Strong winds behind the front of 20-35 miles per hour with gusts over 50 miles per hour will be possible. Dangerous wind chills below 0 are likely in areas with blowing snow and low visibilities.

Another area of low pressure will move across the Pacific Northwest and into the Northern Rockies allowing for moderate to heavy snow across the high terrain. 4-8 inches of snow are likely with the highest elevations nearing 10-12 inches. Showers will remain across the valleys and coast.

Elsewhere, a front will move across the Southeastern US allowing for continued scattered showers and isolated non severe thunderstorms. The main thunderstorm risk will remain confined to the Gulf Coast. No organized severe activity is anticipated at this time.
