There are two main areas of snow for today. The first is the Pacific Northwest and Rockies where moderate to heavy snow is possible through the day and moving into the Plains tonight.

An area of low pressure over the Pacific Northwest will move into the Rockies, bringing moderate to heavy snow to portions of Colorado with snow totals approaching two feet in some areas of Western Colorado. Across the Great Lakes, lake effect snow is expected across the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest ahead of a front. 3-6 inches of snow will be possible in most areas, but some isolated higher amounts will be possible.

In portions of the Southeast, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing, helping to allow the roads to become safer to travel. Alabama transportation officials are encouraging delaying travel until after noon to travel if possible. In the Atlanta area, many areas are clear of ice, but there are still some areas of black ice. Even though the interstates are clear, residential areas are still snow and ice packed.
