Broadcast Industry Veteran Brings a Track Record of Digital Innovation

To meet the growing demand for its mobile weather services provided to local media companies, meteorological science leader Weather Decision Technologies (WDT) has appointed Ian Stinson, a 17-year media industry product and business development expert, to be the company's new Senior Vice President of Mobile Strategies. As such, he will be responsible for fostering the growth of WDT’s mobile products and services worldwide.

Stinson’s career has spanned vice presidential positions at Canvas Technologies, Fox Interactive Media, and prior management positions with Gannett, E.W Scripps and Schurz Communications. In each of these positions, Ian has driven development of first-class innovative interactive and weather products, including a social networking weather site (weather.fox.com); Fox on Demand, a first-of-its-kind streaming media site, featuring national programming on local affiliate Web sites in HD quality; and a new flexible, extensible and scalable content management platform. The latter included a built in geo-tagging engine that automated much of the geo-tagging process of content.

“Ian is a true innovator, with great interactive and digital experience bringing superior products to market,” said Mike Eilts, President and CEO of WDT, Inc. “Ian’s keen business skill and acumen, and his disciplined approach to business and product development makes him a leader in bringing mobile weather products to the broadcast media market,” said Eilts.

Stinson will work directly with existing and prospective media customers, providing innovative iMap® mobile weather products and services, custom software solutions, and interactive mobile weather mapping solutions to meet the rapidly growing needs of mobile weather clients.

Ian has received Interactive Emmy awards, Gannett’s Chairman’s Award, the AP Best Web site award and several Regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Ian received a BA in Communications in 1992 from Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife and son.
