Partnership Opens Up Weather Data to Ecosystem of over 5,000 Leading Developers Using SimpleGeo.
Norman, OK , March 31, 2010 - Weather leader Weather Decision Technologies, Inc., (WDT), has been selected by location-based software leader, SimpleGeo, to provide its broad array of developers with global current weather conditions, including temperature, humidity, winds, and other core weather phenomena from over 10,000 unique weather reporting stations.
The weather data is free to developers using SimpleGeo, allowing them to gain access to timely weather conditions, tied seamlessly to their specific location-based services applications.
Developers using SimpleGeo will also have access to premium geo-referenced weather content directly from WDT’s world-class, accurate meteorological content for more weather-dependent applications.
The WDT-SimpleGeo partnership capitalizes on the rapidly growing popularity of location-based services, as an increasing number of startups are launching applications that depend on location fixes for social media and other applications.
SimpleGeo provides a ready-to-use location infrastructure that makes it easy and cost-effective to add geo-aware features to applications. To date, a network of over 5,000 developers have signed up for the tools. The location services infrastructure was launched today at the O’Reilly Where 2.0 Conference 2010, in San Jose, California.
Also announced today were the company’s two core products: the SimpleGeo Marketplace and the SimpleGeo Storage Engine.
