Norman, OK. - February 12, 2010- Weather Decision Technologies, Inc. (WDT), the world's leading weather services company, is bringing new and enhanced live video streaming opportunities to storm chasers seeking to market tornado and other extreme weather event videos to broadcasters and video production companies, using WDT's unique iMapTracker distribution platform.
The company is teaming with TornadoVideos.net (TVN), the premiere source of professional extreme weather photography and news for production companies, media, and weather enthusiasts, to allow broadcast outlets to receive storm chasers' streams at no charge.
WDT is exhibiting their enhanced iMapTracker Google Maps-based solution at this week's ChaserCon 2010, the National Storm Chaser Convention, in Denver, Colorado. Among the viewer control and other enhancements to the WDT iMapTracker solution on display at ChaserCon this weekend:
- Video un-docking, which allows viewers to simultaneously watch more than one stream.
- An archive event selector which shows streamers' video storm reports of past storm events.
- Archived clips of real-time video streams in near-real-time, so that chasers' video storm reports will be available for viewing within iMapTracker within a few hours.
- Sorting by name and number of viewers. Viewers can link directly to a stream within the iMapTracker.
- TVN and WDT are actively promoting severe weather events and iMapTracker live streams on social networking and viral news sites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and Fark.
"WDT has made some serious enhancements to the iMapTracker solution, allowing chasers to monetize more easily and effectively," said Reed Timmer, Founder and Storm Chaser, TVN. "TVN members now have a powerful distribution channel through which they can distribute their storm chase footage, as well as other live or breaking news material. WDT is simply the best in the weather business, and this is a really great one-stop-shop for the active chaser," said Timmer.
"WDT is excited about providing global media companies the ability to locate, view, and display on their website extreme weather videos," said Mike Eilts, President and CEO of WDT. "We are creating the most powerful resource in the United States for the distribution of extreme weather video streams and high quality footage, and at no cost to the broadcaster," said Eilts.
TornadoVideos.net provides breaking news video, stock footage, and phone and television interviews to media networks worldwide. When natural disasters strike, TVN storm chasers are guaranteed to be at ground zero documenting all aspects of the storm. The tornado, hurricane, hail, and blizzard footage shot by the daring TVN storm chasers is unsurpassed in terms of intensity, quality, and drama. TVN has provided such services to the following news networks over the last several years: Discovery, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, Good Morning America, the BBC, The Weather Channel, and Univision.
